All to true, but lets hope, yet again, that we can learn something from this other than how it makes for great ratings.

Once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right

I know the families aint. Hell, I'm not....yet. But eventually this will have to be thought about. I agree that no one will be thinking this way for quite some time and should not be expected to do so. But later on, down the road apiece, I pray that we as a race can finally learn some real lessons from horror's like this and make some fundamental changes, not just the whole argument about gun control. That is the optomist in me. Sorry if it came off as callous or unfeeling, friend, not my intent in any way.

I didn't take your post as being cold. I try to be an optimist too, looking for that light, but with the frequency of events like this, it is hard to do. I live about 45 minutes from the Amish school in Nickel Mines, PA which was the scene of the tragedy in October, so anymore events like this really hit home. One way or another, this darkness DOES have to give, cause it's getting old.

It's sort of funny in a way since I'm only 35 but some friends & I were sitting around this weekend talking about the differences from our childhood (pick-up baseball, exploring the woods, etc.) to what kids do now (video games & computers). I guess every generation goes through that type of discussion but I really feel sorry for the kids coming up today. Seems like violence in the world & locally is all they know. Hopefully, like you said, some of them can stay away from that negativity & help to make a difference for the future.

While I agree that kids today use video games and computers more but I am inclined to believe that it is because kids CANNOT be unsupervised for even ONE SECOND due to the pervs and weirdos that prey on kids.(There are lots of wonderful and safe pervs and weirdos also)Those who must do the supervising must also do the laundry, groceries, career, yardwork, help with homework, PTA, etc.
